Nico Figueira
Web engineer · Software architect · Edge & DevOps
I build web systems and the pipelines that ship them. Fifteen years ago that meant hand-written HTML, CSS and PHP. Today it means distributed systems running at the edge — TypeScript on Cloudflare Workers, serverless data, and mobile apps built from a shared codebase.
I came to engineering sideways: applied foreign languages in Paris, then retraining in web development in Buenos Aires in 2009. The three languages stuck.
Currently at Saturday Drive, where my work has moved from maintaining a WordPress plugin ecosystem used by millions to architecting a greenfield edge-first platform.
What I Do
Three things I keep coming back to.
Architecture & Edge
Distributed services in TypeScript on Cloudflare Workers, with serverless Postgres behind them. Contract-first design where schemas are the single source of truth, and port/adapter discipline so business logic never depends on the runtime it happens to be running on.
DevOps & Delivery
CI/CD pipelines, release automation, multi-runtime test matrices that block merges. I turn “works on my machine” into “works everywhere, automatically” — and build pipelines that don’t wake anyone up at 3am.
WordPress at Scale
Fifteen years in the ecosystem: plugin architecture, add-on catalogues, the block editor, REST APIs. These days I mostly use WordPress as a headless editing layer and serve the result as static files from the edge.
Work
Sixteen years of projects, from hand-built WordPress themes to distributed systems running at the edge — laid out on a single timeline.
Tech Stack
The tools I reach for every day — and a few I reach for when things get interesting.
